The beginnings of Adelina Matheson

I was born in the region known as Thay. My father recognized my abilities and interests in magic and encouraged my learning at an early age. My mother was fearful that this would be discovered, as they were slaves and I was learning the proper way of serving our master. Unfortunately, she was correct and I was discovered learning magic. Both of my parents were accused of inappropriately serving our master and were executed. I continued to live and serve my master. I attempted to escape several times...and received whippings every unsuccessful try. Another slave, Trevor, was a few years older than me. We became rather good friends. He convinced me to try another escape attempt and I am glad that I did, as we were successful. We ventured through the country, trying to get as far away from Thay as possible. Trevor taught me some fighting skills, using a dagger, long sword, or an axe. A year after our escape, we were awoken by a loud screech. Trevor jumped to attack.....
That was the last time I saw Trevor alive. I still don't know what it was that he battled. I only remember hearing him shout at me to get away.

Almost a week passed and I came across the outskirts of a town named Ravens Bluff. I traveled to the town and searched for a job so that I could afford some food. I decided that I would use a different name, in case someone recognized me from home. I chose to be called Allyn Curran, Allyn was my sister's name. I did finally find a merchant by the name of Kelton Brightwood. He asked me to deliver goods to his customers. I enjoyed this and also helped out at his store. He ran a simple store...selling mainly food items. He did have some rare foods, different fruits that I'd never heard of. I worked for Kelton for a few weeks. One day, as I was cleaning the aisles, I noticed an older man put some items in his coat pocket. Continuing to watch him, I saw him leave without paying. I shouted at Kelton and then followed this man. I ran after him and chased him throughout the city. I was becoming so tired that I ran smack into someone as I turned the corner into an alley. It took me about 5 minutes to gather my senses, but as I did I noticed a lady in shiny full plate armor and she had handcuffed the man I chased. I explained that this man had stolen some things from Kelton's store. As I was finishing, the City Guard showed. She showed some badge (which I found out later that it was a Ravens Bluff Bureau of Investigation badge) and explained to the Guards what happend and to take him.

I found out that this lady was Diana Snully, Cleric of Tyr. I had many questions. After she answered most, she invited me to her office. Before leaving, she invited me to the Temple of Tyr. I continued to work for Kelton. I began attending the Temple of Tyr as well. The more I learned about Tyr, the more I found myself agreeing with his teachings. After a few months, Diana Snully agreed to teach me more magic and the ways of Tyr. I studied hard, wanting to learn as much as I could. I told Diana the truth of who I was and where I was from.

After studying under Diana Snully for several years, the Temple sent me to the town of Sunecliffe to deliver a message. I couldn't believe how far I had come, but I was still really anxious to leave.

I got to Sunecliff without incident. I met several people, who adventured throughout the country, doing good and getting rid of evil. I enjoyed meeting these people and feel I can trust them, but I am still fearful of being sent "home." I chose to not tell my new friends my real name and continue to use Allyn Curran. Perhaps someday I can tell my friends who I really am.
